title: WordPress 2.0 (final) released — too buggy
date: December 31, 2005 | posted by: steve

the execution of this particular release is rather disappointing. though the 2.0 downloads were available for a few days, there was no official announcement until today. server migration was partly to blame. there are mixed feelings amongst many WordPress enthusiasts regarding the lack of more testing time for the beta & release-candidate packages. the rush to put out this version has taken its toll.

we suggest to all Negimaki users not to upgrade to this release. for those who insist, be sure to backup your mySQL database using phpMyAdmin. alternatively, we suggest that you wait until the next cycle release (eg. 2.1 or 2.0.1) which should be in a couple of weeks.

as announced on the last notice sent to the Negimaki user mailing list, we will performing a system wide audit & maintenance on December 27th at approximately 12:30am EST - which means downtime, but no more than 2 hours at most. during this time, your Negimaki site will not be accessible, however you may login to your FTP account if you need to make local backup copies of your data. we suggest you do that now while there’s still time.

title: trackback spam
date: December 7, 2005 | posted by: steve

we’ve been watching WordPress “trackback spam” closely over the past few weeks and it’s getting worse. to accomodate, we’ve created a global mod_security filter that will block “trackback” requests. if you need trackback functionality, email us with assurance that you have the latest stable version of Spam Karma — we’ll verify that the plugin is installed and activated then we’ll create the bypass filter.

title: with or without the infamous “www”
date: December 2, 2005 | posted by: steve

all Negimaki subdomains & hosted top-level domains should now be accessible with or without the “www” portion prepended on URI address. though we see it as redundant, lifting the restriction meant an added layer of convenience for most of our users.
