title: WordPress 2.0.1 released!
date: January 31, 2006 | posted by: steve

After more than 4 weeks of bug squashing and testing, WordPress 2.0.1 has been release to the public. About 114 bug fixes were dealth with among the many issues presented in the last 2.0 milestone. If you’re a Negimaki subscriber, we highly recommend that you UPGRADE to this release. Why? because you will just regret it if you don’t. It sports MANY features 1.5.2 and earlier versions simply don’t have, and of course, we have good faith in this particular release. It’s fair to say that the credit really goes not just to Matt and Ryan (the lead developers), but to the bunch of folks who contribute their time, knowledge & experience in sending patches to make this release possible.

Before you download and install this release, be sure to backup your database using phpMyAdmin and disable all your plugins. Enjoy! :)

UPDATE: 3/06/06 @ 1:54pm EST

we have upgraded all WordPress 1.5.2 & 2.0 sites to 2.0.1 in preparation for 2.0.2 scheduled to be released soon to address multiple vulnerabilities.

we are now using data from various “wp_comments” tables generated by sites running WordPress to gather keywords, top-level domains and generic “spam” phrases for our mod_security rulesets — part of our ongoing proactive effort to combat spam at the Apache level. if you or your visitors experience “precondition failed” notices, let us know so we can look into the situation and make some adjustments, if need be.
