title: upcoming upgrade to FreeBSD 5.4
date: February 21, 2006 | posted by: steve

sometime this week, we will be upgrading our server OS from FreeBSD 4.11 to 5.4 — it will require us to recompile Apache, mySQL and related modules just to ensure that they are all setup correctly with the new OS along with the various system-wide restrictions we have in place. downtime will be inevitable, so we’re estimating anywhere from 1-2 hours to get everything up and running again.

UPDATE: 2/23/06 @ 4:21pm

the upgrade took a little longer that expected, but everything should be up and running now. sorry folks. that broke our 80 days of server uptime, but that doesn’t mean anything, really. :)

title: mod_security audit log (now in place)
date: February 13, 2006 | posted by: steve

we’ve started to implement individual mod_security audit log per-virtualhost (per site) to better debug mod_security related issues, doing so will help us refine our plethora of rulesets to minimize conflict with WordPress & gallery settings & content posting.
